The visit of the delegation, which included Chen Yin, resident deputy chairman of the Committee on Proposals, was aimed at learning about the progress of the NCHA in handling proposals since the First Session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, and collecting suggestions to improve this work. The key proposal under inspection during the visit was about strengthening efforts to preserve and protect China's outstanding cultural relics.

Shao, also executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiu San Society, said such visits are of great importance in terms of giving full play to socialist consultative democracy, building consensus, and increasing interaction for better solidarity.

In implementing the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Central Conference on CPPCC Work, Shao also called for efforts to ensure the practical effect of proposal implementation, so as to push for the earnest implementation of the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC and the State and the development of a strong socialist culture in China, and to make a greater contribution to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035.

The meeting was chaired by Gu Yucai, deputy secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and deputy director of the NCHA. A report on the progress of proposal handling was made by Guan Qiang, deputy director of the NCHA, at the meeting.

The delegation exchanged ideas with officials from the NCHA and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on a wide range of topics, including amendments to the law on the protection of cultural relics, a greater application of digital technologies to their protection, and the retrieval of lost cultural relics.

Since the First Session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, which was held in March 2018, the NCHA has undertaken the handling of 367 CPPCC proposals.
