BEIJING -- Zheng Jianbang on Friday encouraged young people across the Taiwan Straits to support, participate in and benefit from the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations.

Zheng, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive deputy chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang Central Committee, made the remarks while addressing the Cross-Straits Youth Peaceful Development Forum in Beijing.

Resolving the Taiwan question to realize China's complete reunification is in the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, Zheng said, adding that young people across the Straits should cherish peace and promote integrated development.

During the forum, youth representatives shared their visions on topics including deepening youth exchanges, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, and advancing the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations.

Nearly 200 representatives from both sides of the Straits attended the forum.
