A group of private enterprises were awarded at a recent commendation conference held in Zhijin county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, for offering paired assistance to poor villages across China.

Vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee Gao Yunlong, who is also chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, spoke highly of the national campaign in which private enterprises paired up with impoverished villages to help them escape poverty, saying it showcases the country's institutional advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the wisdom of Chinese private enterprises. 

He said China has contributed Chinese modes and solutions to the global poverty reduction, adding that the strength of private enterprises in the anti-poverty fight could only be mustered by focusing on the core issues, serving the country's overall interests, and balancing righteousness and benefit while adopting long-term mechanisms, tailored measures, improved management, and concerted efforts from various parties. 

Gao urged efforts to further promote the social services of private businesses and help them better engage in rural rejuvenation to reinforce the achievements of poverty alleviation. 

He also called on private enterprises to play an active role in fulfilling their social responsibilities and offering public services and required the federations of industry and commerce at all levels to guide those enterprises in seeking high-quality growth through transformation and upgrading. 

A total of 100 private companies and 100 organizations were awarded for their contributions to the campaign at the conference. The county also signed investment and cooperation agreements worth about 5.59 billion yuan ($851.96 million) with 10 private enterprises at the event.
