Commemorative activities will be held next year to mark the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution in 1911, according to a decision issued by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The decision, which has been approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, was deliberated and adopted on Wednesday at the closing of a three-day meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee in Beijing.

The Xinhai Revolution, or 1911 Revolution, began on October 10, 1911 and ended the autocratic rule that lasted for thousands of years in ancient China, spread the ideas of democracy and republicanism, and promoted the social reform of modern China. According to the text of the decision, the revolution had profound influence on the country.

The world today is undergoing profound changes. China is embarking on a new journey to achieve its second centenary goal — building a modern socialist country in all aspects by the time the People's Republic of China celebrates its centenary in 2049.

The text of the decision also read that it is of great significance to commemorate the Xinhai Revolution in the new era, to look back on the arduous course of the Chinese people's struggle for national independence, national prosperity, people's happiness and national reunification, and remember the glorious achievements of Sun Yat-sen and other revolutionary pioneers.

It will enhance the great unity of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups and the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation at home and abroad, mobilize positive factors, pool wisdom and strength to work together to advance the great cause of national reunification and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
