Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, led a survey team to Shanghai municipality and East China's Jiangsu province in the Yangtze River Delta region from Oct 10 to 14.

The team, consisting of members of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, surveyed conditions for transforming the region into a new highland for opening-up and facilitating China's "dual circulation" development pattern.

They held discussions with local government officials and company representatives as well as experts and scholars after visiting industrial parks in Suzhou, Jiangsu, the Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District, and a bonded logistics center.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the development and opening-up drive of Pudong in Shanghai, he said, adding that as China's largest economic hub and a forerunner of the country's reform and opening-up, Shanghai is the bellwether in the development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

He noted that the city boasts favorable conditions and has an obligation to explore, innovate and lead faster transformation from an opening-up pattern featuring the flow of commodities and factors of production to a rule-based opening-up pattern, and to make breakthroughs in forming the new "dual circulation" development pattern.

Zheng urged Suzhou, which is on the front line of China's reform and opening-up, to seize every second to further efforts to deepen the region's reform and take the opening-up to new heights.

According to Zheng, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang will manage to work out a high-quality report based on the survey to contribute to the development of the region into a highland of opening-up and the construction of smart cities.
