The new energy vehicle (NEV) industry has entered a new round of development that is more market-oriented and requires higher quality, said Wan, who is also president of the congress, in his speech.

The NEV industry that is currently driven by policies needs to speed up shifting to policy and market driven, added Wan.

He also called for a closer collaboration of the global automobile industry in light of complicated domestic and international environments and unprecedented changes, and encouraged Chinese automakers to seek opportunities in the new round of scientific and technological revolution.

The automobile industry has played a connecting role in both domestic and foreign market cycles, said Wan.

Wan encouraged the whole industry to make production more electrified and intelligent, and become more open to sharing in a bid to construct a new ecosystem for industrial integration and development.

Based on comprehensive research on the global NEV development and trends, the congress reached a consensus after extensive discussion.

The congress was co-hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Hainan provincial government, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration of Market Regulation.

Germany was invited to be the guest of honor of the congress.
