The Education, Science, Health and Sports Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a teleseminar on the improvement of China's technological innovation system on July 15.

The event was attended by Wan Gang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, and Lu Zhangong, another vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

The discussion was centered on the building of an enterprise-centric and market-oriented technological innovation system that promotes in-depth industry-university-research integration, which will be part of China's 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development (2021-2025).

In his speech, Wan called for fully recognizing the plan's significance and enhancing the sense of mission and responsibility in providing political advice.

He also demanded accurate knowledge about the latest industrial development both at home and abroad and a forward-looking and systemic arrangement for China's evolution into a world-leading innovation-driven country.

Apart from a main venue in Beijing, the seminar also had two sub-venues in CPPCC provincial committees in Yunnan and Shaanxi.
