Wan Gang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), headed a survey tour by a delegation of members of the CPPCC National Committee's Committee of Education, Science, Health and Sport to Fujian and Zhejiang provinces from June 15 to 20. They sought to learn about the developmental difficulties faced by innovation-driven tech enterprises and to offer helpful advice to them.

The delegation visited a number of local enterprises and held separate talks with local officials and representatives in Fuzhou of Fujian and Hangzhou of Zhejiang, listening to their progress reports.

During the meetings, Wan fully acknowledged the work done by the two provinces to accelerate transformation and upgrading of innovation-driven tech enterprises and implement the policies and measures laid out during the Two Sessions this year.

He stressed that there is tremendous demand for investment as the new type of industrialization, informatization, urbanization and agricultural modernization is at a stage of rapid development in China.

He called on the enterprises to keep abreast of new development, expand their presence in new markets, enhance the quality of their growth, grasp new opportunities brought by the digital economy, lead small and medium-sized enterprises in transformation and upgrading, integrate industrial and innovation chains. 

Innovation-driven tech enterprises must also engage in fundamental scientific research in areas which are key to China's social and economic development, frontiers of the global scientific research or places where transformative technologies are likely to emerge, according to Wan.

Meanwhile, efforts should be made to improve the business environment, raise the economic benefit of innovations, and maximize the favorable policy mix so as to upgrade enterprises' technological competitiveness, he said. 

He also called for strengthening international cooperation and actively responding to the restructuring of the global industrial chain amid the COVID-19 pandemic in order to achieve positive results through international cooperation.
