Pingtan is the nearest county to Taiwan in the Chinese mainland. It has been one of the critical bridges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan ever since. After the reform and opening up, Pingtan has become the main transit station for cross-Strait economic and trade exchanges. Establishing the "Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone" is conducive to further exerting Fujian's advantages, enhancing its attraction to businessmen of Taiwan and promoting cross-Straits cooperation and exchanges to a new level. The country should set up the free trade zone as soon as possible, build a pilot base for boosting cross-Straits economic and trade cooperation and supporting the construction of the western coast of the Taiwan Straits.
