CPPCC National Committee delegation led by Bater visits Jamaica

At the invitation of the parliament of Jamaica, Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a CPPCC National Committee delegation to Jamaica on Dec 2-5, 2019, holding talks with Thomas Tavares-Finson, president of the Jamaican Senate, Pearnel Charles, speaker of the Jamaican House of Representatives, and other lawmakers.

Bater talked about the 70th anniversary of the founding of both the People's Republic of China and the CPPCC. He said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 47 years ago, bilateral ties have developed steadily. Recently, the heads of state of the two countries jointly lifted bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership, which opened a new chapter for the two countries' relations. He said China's top political advisory body is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Jamaican parliament to promote bilateral relations.

Tavares-Finson and Charles extended their congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, saying that Jamaica was one of the first Caribbean countries to establish diplomatic relations with China. Jamaica is willing to further develop relations with China and deepen friendly cooperation in various fields.
